The Cultural Committee in the Department of French Language and Cultures held a lecture titled “False Cognates in Translation Between French and English” as part of the cultural season activities. The lecture was presented by Prof. Essam ElSafty on Monday, February 17, 2025. 

During the lecture, Prof.Essam El-Safty emphasized the importance of understanding the subtle differences between similar words in English and French. He explained that these words (False Cognates) often lead to confusion and misunderstandings in communication or translation work. He confirmed the need for learners to be aware of these differences in order to improve their linguistic accuracy and enhance effective communication between the two languages
