An Introductory Account
The French Department initially started as a program under the umbrella of the English Department in the 2006/2007 academic year. The French Program initially only had two faculty members, in addition to external secondment teachers, with only twelve students. The Department of French Language and Cultures began operating as a full-fledged department in the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015. The department offers several courses in French language and linguistics, French, Francophone and French Comparative Literature as well as culture and criticism, history, philosophy, politics, and the arts.
